It is an addictive arena-style first-person shooter (FPS) with crisp movement and a wide array of weapons. Xonotic started off as a fork of Nexuiz Classic, but exceeded in many aspects.
Comes pre-packaged with several dozen different maps!. Contains many multiplayer game modes, including: Deathmatch, Survivor, Capture the Flag, Hunt the Flag, Keep the Flag, Pistol Frenzy, Last Swiss Standing & One-Shot One-Kill (plus team versions of these modes). Supports recording of your game by the "demo" system. Has a built-in, in-game map editor to help players create their own maps and allows forĬo-operative edit mode in real-time with others!. Officially runs on most major systems, and maybe even some non-major ones?. With the correct settings, it can run on old hardware (Pentium III and above). Lightweight size, only about 50 MB to download, plus additional maps average 20 KB each!. Low latency, it can even run across a 56 Kbps connection!. Source code is available under a zlib-like open source license. AssualtCube is available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Android, and Apple macOS. It features similar weaponry, maps and more. The AssaultCube game is a lightweight FPS game with a WWII layout. The engine that powered Nexuiz was Forest Hale’s Darkplaces engine. The goal of the project was to create a high quality first-person shooter that could be played freely across all platforms in one package: PC, Mac, and Linux. Nexuiz was originally developed by Lee Vermeulen and Ashley Hale (Ladyhavoc), who started Alientrap in the summer of 2002. 
It comes with dozens of stunning effects, weapons, and options. Nexuiz was my favorite FPS game on Linux for years.
